Top 5 Hinagiku Moments No. 4

Here I pick my personal Top 5 Hinagiku Moments up to and including the Athena saga. As this post would be quite long if I make all five rankings into one post, I would just split the post into five. Please visit the other posts for other rankings!

Rankings are to be released according to the following schedule:

No. 5 – 18 April 2010
No. 4 – 25 April 2010
No. 3 – 2 May 2010
No. 2 – 9 May 2010
No. 1 – 16 May 2010

So here we go with this week’s ranking!

No. 4 – Hinagiku’s First Confession

There are a lot of enjoyable Hayate-Hina arcs and scenes throughout the series, but personally I enjoy the Date arc most. We had the classic sparkling eyes of Hina, the disastrous movie watching, and the lovely amusement park adventure. But the best of the arc remained this…

I would call it "the confession you are not allowed to hear".

People interpret this scene differently. Some think that Hina could not win against “fate”: even when she managed to confess, she was not allowed to succeed. However, I do not agree with such analysis. I think that Hina purposely chose to confess when the train was passing by, because she showed no shock nor disappointment with Hayate’s failure to hear her words. On the other hand, the way she handled the situation gave me an impression of “just as I wanted”. She would still be too embarrassed to confess to Hayate, but in this scene she could “try” to confess without having to worry the consequence. Then she openly gave Hayate another chance to put magic on her, so she could expect another date with him!

Generally I don’t like girls calculating too much, but this scene to me is simply lovely.

The only problem is that, after the Date arc, Hina seemed to return to her previous self, and even became increasingly clumsy with Hayate. It was hugely disappointing, since Hina was, bit by bit, walking towards the correct direction, but then she took two or three steps backward since the beginning of the Athena saga. Why did this happen is still a mystery to me, but I think no matter the reason, it was still disappointing.

What a pity. If Hina could simply build up on this arc, and put better efforts in the Athena saga, her first confession could go one or two ranks higher.

  1. Well since hina relationship development is at random like forward than backward than I think Hata was not planing for Hina back then….Still her confession holds….So the reason comes to me that…Hata don’t want Hina to act soon…If it is a misfortune or intentional …Also I didn’t know till know that Hina confessed while passing the train..that was intentional….If that was..Then I must say her time calculation was perfect since she didn’t wait for the train to come…She continuosly talked and the train arrived exactly at the time of confession….
